Kotoya Anna is a history buff and former delinquent who was once the top hostess. But one day, she wakes up to find she’s swapped bodies with the famous Edo period oiran, “Yamabuki.”

Using her unique combination of historical knowledge and former delinquent skills, along with her modern body and wit, Anna aims to become number one as “Yamabuki” too. (Dialogue is written in oiran slang [“arinsu kotoba”], while the narrative is in modern Japanese. The setting is loosely historical. For story purposes, oiran are not depicted with *furi-shin* [a specific hairstyle]. Descriptions of the pleasure quarters and the Ōoku may differ from historical facts.
